Vinyl Flooring

Vinyl flooring, (also called linoleum and resilient flooring), has been one of the most popular choices for bathroom floors and kitchen floors for many years. Vinyl flooring offers easy maintenance, and in most cases is a durable, and easy to install product that will keep its look for years. Despite the easy maintenance, still does require regular cleaning. See our vinyl floor care page for more info.

Although vinyl flooring products have improved greatly over the past 4 decades, you should be aware that inexpensive vinyl flooring may not last as long as hardwood floors and laminate floors.

The quality of vinyl flooring comes from the manufacturing processes used. Many vinyl flooring products include a clear, protective coating of urethane. This serves to prevent wearing of the printed image underneath. These layers are then fused to a backing of vinyl material. The combination of materials in the top wear layer will determine its enduring appearance, and the floor backing will determine its durability. These flooring materials are special trademarked products.

Vinyl flooring is available in 6 or 12 foot wide rolled sheets (sheet vinyl). It also comes as vinyl tiles which either have an adhesive backing or can be glued right to the floorboard.
